It’s Thursday
which means it’s almost Friday, which means it’s almost the WEEKEND! There are weeks when this mantra starts as early as Monday (yes), and during those times, the struggle
is REAL.
Sometimes we find ourselves as frequent passengers on the struggle bus. I’m here to tell you to turn that bus into a Tesla and cruise through the days with style and…. sustainable energy.
Today’s quote, from a very famous mindfulness teacher and author, has to do with the importance and the power of focus:
“When we get too caught up in the busyness of the world, we lose connection with one another — and ourselves.” — Jack Kornfield
Focus on what’s going on within. Don’t lose yourself. Because without yourself, you have no one, literally. Now, how do we start? By taking on today’s challenge…
Today’s Challenge
“the mind has a mind of its own”
Today, we focus on the breath
Intentionality — to be attentive to what’s happening
Openness — to be present and honest with what is happening
Observing — to notice and not control
Slow Breathing
When you inhale, say in your mind, “breathe in”
When you exhale, say “breathe out”
When a thought enters, label it “thought”, and re-focus on your breathing
Trust me, it’s not as easy as it sounds, but it gets better with time. Listen for 5 minutes to learn how to view Thoughts as Friends. It’s a great way to think about thinking.
I hope you enjoyed today’s mindfulness practice. Taking a few minutes for mindful breathing is extremely effective. If we don’t take the time to breathe, we all know what happens…we pass out. Thanks for reading!
Oh and don’t forget to complete the survey (2 questions) and if you want — refer a friend!
