Happy Thursday! Welcome back yolks!
I read this article, “Four-Time Obstacle Race Champion Amelia Boone on Mastering the Art of Suffering” by Polina Marinova Pompliano.
Polina interviews Boone who is an “obstacle endurance racer” and competes in challenges such as “Tough Mudders”.
A Sweat Life
Boone enjoys endurance racing for both the physical and mental components. She explains her experience with the mental aspect of racing and with her ability to cope with an eating disorder.
“To conquer the mind, Boone realized that she needed to first master the art of suffering. ‘When you put yourself through situations that are very hard, and you do that on purpose, it helps you to deal with the messiness in life that is not voluntary,’ she says.”
“The hardest things to fix are the things that we don’t want to admit to ourselves.”
Think about how this relates to your life. Do you feel like you need to put yourself in more challenging situations or admit that something is a challenge for you?
