So, this week, we are all about routines. Routines can make life more enjoyable, more manageable, and more productive. These articles: Our Strategies for Creating a Mindful Morning Routine by Kayti Christian and 12 Easy Ways To Create a Morning Routine by Raven Ishak are great articles explaining simple strategies and thoughts to add to your morning rituals.
Here are a few of their thoughts:
First, start with a healthy bedtime routine: no screens or work, do things that are enjoyable and relaxing. Listen to a podcast or calming music, meditate, do some yoga or stretching, read a book, journal, or drink some tea. By calming your body before bed, you’ll have better sleep, and have a more positive morning.
Make gratitude one of your first thoughts in the morning. Each morning, think of something you are grateful for. Think about this for a few minutes when you wake up. It’ll make early mornings more pleasant.
Make mornings pleasant and enjoyable. Find ways of motivating yourself to get up. Maybe you put on a comfortable robe, you get some tea, meditate, etc. When mornings become something you look forward to, your body is more willing to get out of bed and take on the day ahead!
Wake up your brain in the morning. Do a little activity, maybe it’s reading or doing a crossword puzzle that gets your mind going each morning.
Wake up slowly. This may require that you get up a little earlier than you normally do. Many of us (including myself), snooze the alarm a few times and wake up at the last possible minute, just to rush to work. Try making your mornings more enjoyable. By waking up a little earlier, you can slowly get out of bed, take the time to put on comfy slippers, have a nice cup of coffee or tea, and start your day on the right foot!
Instead of looking at your computer or phone, think about your goals for the day and write them down. Making it something you want to do, not something you feel like you should do.
