The Good Egg: Positive Vibes

It’s Thursday and we’re getting closer and closer to that so desired weekend. All week we’ve been looking for the positives to make us happier people. As positivity grows, our own happiness increases, and we are then able to spread it to others.
Sadly, we humans are prone to negative thoughts. The amygdala retains more negative thoughts than positive thoughts. By remembering these negative thoughts, our brains are able to signal “danger”, which throughout our evolution, has helped keep our species alive.
So, our brains are constantly looking for those negative thoughts. This is why we need to focus our attention on the positives and neutral moments.
So how do we do this?
We need to have Self Regulation and we can get this through frequent practice of meditation. In meditation, we focus on one thing (maybe it’s the breath) and non-judgmentally notice when thoughts come in and out.
As we continue to practice this, we’ll be better able to take in the negative stimuli, focus on something positive, and respond accordingly.
This process takes a while to become automatic. It all comes with time and practice.
