Happy Tuesday yolks! How are your gratitudes going? Have you been writing one thing each day that you are grateful to have in your life?

I’ll share what I wrote yesterday: “I’m grateful for the mom of one of my elementary school students who asked me how I’m doing during this pandemic.”

She wrote one sentence but it meant so much to me. I told her how grateful I was for her message and thanked her for thinking of me. All it takes is one sentence to make someone’s day.

One of our readers, Caitlyn W., said she is grateful for “warm showers”! Aren’t we all!

So, today is Tasty Tuesday and I’d like to highlight everyone’s favorite small, green trees…

Broccoli!

Broccoli has fiber, Vitamins C and K, iron, potassium, and relatively high amounts of protein (compared to other vegetables). Broccoli supports immune health, blood clotting, blood pressure control, prevents heart disease, delivers oxygen to cells, and aids in the development of muscles, bones, and skin.

Fun Facts

The word “broccoli” comes from the Italian word “broccolo” meaning “the flowering crest of a cabbage” and from the Latin word “brachium” meaning “arm” or “branch”.

The heaviest broccoli on record is 35 pounds and it was grown in Alaska in 1993. That’s one large veggie!

The world record for eating broccoli is held by Tom Landers who ate a pound of broccoli in 92 seconds #bloated

President George H.W. Bush claimed that his mother made him eat broccoli as a kid, and when he became president he declared he would not eat it. Broccoli was banned on Air Force One and the White House during his presidency. Watch this minute long clip of how he feels about broccoli.

On the other hand, President Barack Obama declared at the Kids State Dinner that broccoli was his favorite vegetable. Watch his minute long speech here.
